Listmineralrights.com- An Oil and Gas Mineral Rights AdBoard

I came across a website called listmineralrights.com. It gives people the opportunity to advertise oil and gas mineral ownership for sale. This is a very useful website for people who are trying to sell their ownership. These people may not be familiar with marketing their mineral ownership and this gives them the necessary resources. It is also a useful tool for oil and gas companies who are in the market to buy or lease minerals from land and mineral owners.

Drillinginfo.com

I recently subscribed to a website called drillinginfo.com. This website provides, "Timely and deep E&P data and integrated analytical and asset management applications to over 3000 companies producing over 90% of domestic oil and gas."(Drillinginfo.com) I have been using it for about 2 months know and I am very pleased with what I have learned. Although I am new to the oil business, I am very interested in what this website has to offer. I used it this past summer in my job as a land man intern. What I found was that it made my job easier by allowing me to pin-point exactly the areas in which I was targeting to lease. It gave me listing of past and current production in these areas and made my life easier. If you are in the industry or are just curious about how to get started, take a look at this website.

September 2010 Issue of Texas Monthly

I recently read the September 2010 issue of "Texas Monthly." In this issue, there is a very well-written article about the recent oil boom in Midland. I find it very interesting because it sums up the oil business in Midland over the last few decades. In past times, there have been two geological zones in which oil companies have targeted there drilling. These two zones are the Spraberry and the Wolfcamp zones. Recently, Dennis Phelps, an engineer for Henry Petroleum began experimenting with drilling in a medium zone known as the "Wolfberry." This zone is between the Spraberry and the Wolfcamp. For years, oil companies have stayed away from this zone due to the shear density of the rock in the Wolfberry. It was majority consensus among oil men that this zone would never produce. Phelps broke the barrier in Wolfberry drilling and began a new boom in West Texas. Also included in this article are numerous stories and personalities from Midland. Many of the men featured in this article are friends of mine and I am honored to know some of the leaders of this new movement.
